Grad showcase 

Project overview 
The Vanta Grad Showcase is a collaborative project with Bel Mazhari to design a visual identity for the graduating class of the Bachelor of Design Program at Conestoga College.

The project is comprised of a logo, patterns, icons, typography, brand assets, photography and promotional material. The title “Vanta” was chosen by the graduates to represent the absorption of knowledge and growth through the years of learning. 

Project goals

Create a visual identity for the theme “Vanta”.

Incorporate traditional media.

Provide a light mode and a dark mode

Design Process 

Research

Research was conducted on the word vanta and its symbolism for growth and absorption. Meetings with the graduates were ongoing to ensure their needs and messaging were represented in the way they would like it.

Overall Design

The print posters feature bold, textured visuals layered with paint and ink creating a high-contrast appearance. Clean grids and minimal typography provide structure, allowing the backgrounds to stand out without overwhelming the viewer. The use of light and dark modes adds variety while maintaining a cohesive visuals.

Mango Grotesque and Poppins create a clean, modern hierarchy across layouts. These clean typefaces also allow for the textured patterns to be the focal point of each deliverable.

Pitch to the Client

A pitch was conducted to the graduating class of the Bachelor of Design program highlighting the symbolism and multi deliverable project. By using traditional media an abstract texture is used to represent the continuous growth and evolving learning that has taken place in the past four years.

Results 

Project outcome

The Vanta Project resulted in a cohesive brand identity presented to 4th-year students for their Graduation showcase, which was carried across both digital and print platforms. The final identity successfully reflected the theme of absorbing knowledge and showcased the graduating class’s strong design foundations.
