Project overview
Handful of Snacks is a playful, sustainable snack brand created for kids and parents to enjoy together. The brand balances fun with a slightly healthy twist, offering fruit snacks and cheddar crackers. Rooted in Ontario, Handful emphasizes eco-friendly packaging solutions that are more sustainable, while maintaining a bold identity.
This project consists of a full brand development including packaging design, social media content, motion graphics, posters, and overall visual identity. The goal was to create a cohesive brand system that communicates playfulness and health, while standing out on shelves and connecting with families in a meaningful way.

The visual identity for Handful of Snacks is bold, playful, and family friendly. The logo combines cheerful shapes with a friendly face, reflecting the brand’s approachable personality. A warm, vibrant colour palette of orange, yellow, and blue creates energy while softer pastel tones provide balance. Custom brand assets and patterns add a sense of fun and movement, while the friendly Grandstander typeface reinforces accessibility and charm. Altogether, the identity feels lively and engaging, appealing to both kids and parents.









Design Process
Research
The project began with research into sustainability, focusing on eco-friendly inks, recyclable and durable packaging materials, and efficient shipping methods. Additional research examined Canadian food packaging requirements to ensure compliance, alongside a study of the target audience to understand how to engage both kids and parents. The design process involved generating multiple thumbnail sketches for packaging and logos, testing various color palettes, and developing prototypes for box structures. This exploration shaped a cohesive brand identity that balances playfulness, sustainability, and practicality for real-world use.

The packaging design is playful yet simple, making it easy to understand at a glance. The box is structured for convenience, allowing for quick grab-and-go use. Each flavour is distinguished by a different coloured background, creating variety while keeping the overall system cohesive and recognizable.

Handful’s social media posts are designed as part of a teaser campaign, using bold yet simple imagery paired with short, playful text to spark curiosity. The clean layouts and vibrant colors align with the brand’s identity. By keeping the visuals minimal and the messaging concise, the posts build intrigue and anticipation, encouraging audiences to engage with the brand and look forward to the product launch.
